Route 2

After delivering the letter to your mom, continue form Aquacorde Town and make your way into Route 2! You'll have to pass some tall grass where wild pokemon may battle you! If you bought some Poke-Balls at Aquacorde Town.  After walking through the first couple rows of grass, you will meet up with Shauna and Serena/Calem. Shauna goes into thetall grass and sends out her Fletchling to battle against a level 2 Bunnelby.

She says you should always weaken a pokemon first, then throws a Pokeball at the bunnelby and catches it. After the tutorial, she will eventually give you and Serena/Calem some pokballs, 5 to be exact.

A flying type such as Pidgey or Fletchling would be helpful to have for the Santalune Gym, and you will be able to fly on them later on. Walk along the route, at the end of the grass, you'll run into a trainer.

You'll go in your very first battle with Youngster Austin, who has a Level 5 Zigzagoon.

He shouldn't be that hard unless he gets a Critical Hit, but make sure to use your Elemental Move against him, you'll surely win. You'll receive some prize money, and the ability to continue your journey.
